Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 chicken hamburger buns, torn into pieces
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • Dill pickles, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. In a mixing bowl, combine torn hamburger buns with melted butter and sesame seeds.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the bun mixture at the bottom, followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the special sauce made from mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, mustard, vinegar, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients ending with American cheese slices on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving with shredded lettuce and chopped dill pickles.

Keywords: Stale hamburger buns work best as they absorb moisture without getting mushy. Feel free to customize toppings or use different cheeses based on preference. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 2 months.
