  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pink and blue food coloring gel (or other colors)
  • Cotton candy-flavored extract (optional)
  • Edible glitter or sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly scrub and dry the apples; insert wooden sticks.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase heat to high and boil until mixture reaches 300°F (150°C). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and optional extracts.
  4. Divide the candy into two bowls; color one pink and the other blue. Swirl gently for a marbled effect.
  5. Dip each apple into both colors, creating a cotton candy design. Place on parchment paper to set.
  6. While still soft, sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles if desired.
