Ingredients

Scale
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 110 g whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g sugar
  • 20 g butter (softened)
  • 3 g dry yeast (or 9 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 tablespoon orange jam
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until incorporated and let rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and salt; mix until absorbed and let rest again for another 10 minutes.
  3. Incorporate softened butter into the dough, mixing until smooth. Cover and refrigerate for one hour.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle about 50 cm by 30 cm and spread softened butter evenly over it.
  5. Fold the dough into sections and chill again for one hour.
  6. Roll out to a rectangle measuring approximately 20×35 cm and cut into triangles.
  7. Roll each triangle tightly from the base to the tip and place on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  8. Brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with sugar before allowing them to rise until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
  9. Preheat oven to 180°C (static) or 170°C (fan) and bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
