Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add warm milk while mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface and spread melted butter over two-thirds of the dough. Fold the unbuttered third over the middle section and fold again like a letter.
- Wrap the folded dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
- Cut rolled dough into triangles and roll from the base to form crescent shapes. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise until doubled in size (about 45 minutes).
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush tops with beaten egg and bake for approximately 22 minutes or until golden brown.
