Description

Sourdough Cheesy Breadsticks are a delightful and easy-to-make snack that transforms leftover sourdough discard into a mouthwatering treat. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, these breadsticks are generously topped with garlic butter, Italian herbs, and melted cheese. Perfect for any occasion—from game night to family gatherings—these cheesy delights are not only delicious but also versatile. Serve them warm with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping, and watch them disappear!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian herbs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil and sourdough discard to the mixture. Gradually mix in flour using a dough hook until smooth and elastic (about 4 minutes).
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface and transfer it to a greased baking sheet.
  5. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle garlic powder, herbs, salt, and pepper on top. Add mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly.
  6. Allow the dough to rise again for 15 minutes while preheating your oven to 400°F.
  7. Bake on the lowest rack for about 15–20 minutes or until crispy; adjust to a higher rack for browning if needed.
  8. Cut into strips and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
