- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter (for layering)
- 1 large egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Stir in lukewarm milk and melted butter until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise for approximately 45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare the cold butter layer by rolling it into a square between parchment sheets.
- Roll out the dough into a square, enclose the butter square within it, then roll out again into a rectangle.
- Fold the dough into thirds and chill for 20 minutes; repeat this process two more times.
- Cut the final rolled dough into triangles and shape into croissants.
- Allow them to rise again before brushing with egg wash and baking at 400°F for about 20-25 minutes.
